JEFFERSON, N.C.- Sheriff B. Phil Howell announces the arrest of an adult male suspect following an early-morning Suspicious Persons investigation which lead to a vehicle pursuit.
Shortly before 5 A.M. on Friday, October 16, 2020 Ashe County 911 Dispatch received a call from Ashe Memorial Hospital advising of a suspicious adult male in in the Emergency Department’s waiting area. The caller stated that the male subject was acting erratically and asking for a female to come outside and leave with him.
Upon his arrival at the hospital Sgt. Zack Vogler, of the Ashe County Sheriff’s Office, observed a silver Chevy pick-up truck driving in circles near the exit of the Emergency Department’s parking area. The driver of the truck, later identified as Andrew Wade Noblett, then drove off AMH property where he was observed running a red light near the Food Lion intersection. Sgt. Vogler activated his emergency blue lights and performed a traffic stop on the truck, coming to a stop in the parking area of the Ashe County Government Complex.
During the course of Sgt. Vogler’s traffic stop and investigation, Noblett started up the truck and fled the scene at a high rate of speed. Sgt. Vogler gave chase with his blue emergency lights and siren activated as Noblett fled recklessly at approximately 75mph. Eventually Noblett turned onto Frank Dillard Road where he met a dead end and was arrested without further incident.
Arrested: Andrew Wade Noblett, 42 years-old, of West Jefferson, NC.
Charges: Fleeing and Eluding Arrest with a Motor Vehicle (Felony)
Failure to Heed Lights or Siren (Traffic)
Bond: $15,000.00 Secured
