Our Ashe Back 2 School Blast and Deputy 4A Day is an annual event that the Ashe County Sheriff’s Office and Ashe County School Systems created to bring children from the community together for a fun-filled day.

Ashe Back 2 School Blast/Deputy 4A Day provides local children with the opportunity to receive their class schedule for the upcoming school year, meet their teachers, and collect school supplies. This is a free festival-type event with exciting vendors, from the famous dunk booth to sugary treats. Each child will be able to collect a variety of goodies from each vendor. Children will receive a free hotdog lunch, and free water is provided throughout the event.  Children can go to school in style with a fresh new haircut from some of the finest stylists in the county.

The Ashe County Sheriff’s Office will be set up throughout the event, with K-9 Demos, jail cell photo ops, an opportunity to experience what it’s like to be a 911 dispatcher and a chance for the kids to sit in a patrol car.  The goal for Deputy 4A Day has always allowed our law enforcement offices to forge a positive relationship with the young people in our community.

This year’s event will take place on Saturday, August 10th, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Ashe County Sheriff’s Office parking lot. Shuttles will be available from the parking lots to the event entrance. We look forward to seeing all the kiddos!!!

“If we can reach these kids while they’re young to show them that we’re just regular people like them and that we too like to have fun right alongside them, that’s huge” said Sheriff B. Phil Howell“I want these kids to know that they can come to law enforcement officers with a problem and know they’re coming to a human being and not just a badge. If we can reach them now and allow them to grow up with those memories of us, maybe in the future they’ll think of us before they make a bad decision or, better yet, maybe they’ll even come back one day and ask for an employment application and start the cycle all over again
