Off-Duty Officer Program

This information is intended for organizations or citizens interested in employing off-duty sworn Ashe County deputies for security and traffic control needs. The secondary employment of our off-duty deputies is limited to those jobs that, by their nature, will not detract from the image or operation of the Ashe County Sheriff’s Office.

The Ashe County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) administers a program for the employment of Sheriff’s Deputies during their off-duty hours for public and private services. Off-duty Deputies are generally hired to maintain order, facilitate traffic flow, provide security, and escort heavy equipment or wide load transports.

The rate to hire an off-duty deputy is $30.00 per hour minimum for security or traffic related assignments. There is also a 3hr minimum.
