This week we were honored to recognize one of our dispatchers, Earnie Eldreth, for his life-saving actions when handling a recent 911 call.To protect the privacy of our citizens we avoid details and are intentionally vague when speaking about medical calls. With that said, we can proudly report that earlier this year Earnie’s experience and professionalism helped save the life of an Ashe resident during a cardiac emergency. Earnie was able to tap into his training and walk the patient’s loved one through step-by-step CPR instructions that sustained the patient’s life until first-responders arrived on scene and took over performing CPR. Earnie’s actions are credited with helping to save the life of this Ashe resident and I cannot be more proud of the manner in which this call was handled by everyone involved. Earnie is yet another example of the kind of dedicated professionals we are lucky to count as part of our Ashe County Sheriff’s Office family. As part of our recognition of Telecommunicator Eldreth we were able to present him with a Life Saver award pin and a certificate noting this accomplishment. Thanks to their generous donations, we were also able to provide Earnie with gift certificates from the Ashe County Chamber of Commerce and Boondocks Brewery.A special ‘thank you’ goes out to Boondocks Brewing and the Ashe County Chamber of Commerce who donated these gift certificates to ensure that exceptional service by members of our staff can be appropriately rewarded and Earnie was certainly a humble and deserving recipient.
