JEFFERSON, N.C.- Sheriff B. Phil Howell announces the arrest of two adults on Felony charges following a brief vehicle pursuit of the subjects, wanted for parole violations in Ashe County.
At approximately 3pm on August 26, 2020, Ashe County 911 Dispatch received a call of a suspicious vehicle, a white Nissan Maxima, in the area of Cox Road and Round Knob Church Road in Ashe County. Deputies Curtis Elliott and Lee Johnson, of the Ashe County Sheriff’s Office, responded to the area and quickly located the vehicle, occupied by a male driver and female passenger, driving towards them on Cox Road. Deputy Elliott, driving a marked patrol truck, conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and as he approached the vehicle the driver accelerated accelerated off in an attempt to flee, striking Deputy Johnson’s marked patrol car on the passenger side.
