Public Information

The Ashe County Sheriff’s Office is dedicated to providing both the public and the news media with timely, accurate, and transparent information. Administrative Coordinator Tasha Francis serves as our Public Information Officer (PIO) and is the primary point of contact for media inquiries.

Working closely with Sheriff B. Phil Howell, Chief Jermey Willaims and other members of the Sheriff’s Office command staff our PIO provides the community with critical updates about criminal investigations, death investigations and other serious incidents of public interest.

Our Public Information Officer also works to maintain positive relationships with the community by promoting Ashe County Sheriff’s Office programs and activities and by getting deputies and staff involved with other events and activities in the community.

Press releases are distributed to the media via e-mail and to community members via the Ashe County Sheriff’s Office Facebook Page {HERE} and the “News” section of this website {HERE}.

While we strive to always be transparent, our office will never intentionally release inappropriate or premature information that may compromise any ongoing investigations.
