There have been a lot of rumors floating throughout the County that Trick-or-Treating will be canceled this year due to COVID. We at the Ashe County Sheriff’s Office are not about to let that happen.
We have been brainstorming for weeks trying to come up with a safe and fun way to bring Trick-or-Treating to the children of Ashe County and we’re excited to announce what we’ve come up with.
We have developed an interactive map that will allow parents to locate spots around Ashe County for the kids to Trick-or-Treat safely this Halloween. This map is easily accessible on any smart phone and will display the locations and hours where vetted businesses, churches and organizations will be handing out candy for children.
This map is located in the News section of our new website at https://ashesheriff.com/news/halloween-drive-thru-map/
On this page you’ll find the following:
– The interactive map
– A short video from Sheriff Howell explaining the motivation behind the map and how it is used
– A sign-up form for businesses, organizations and churches who wish to participate in Trick-or-Treating this year and be included on the map.
Because participating organizations are still signing-up and being screened, the interactive map will not be 100% finalized until October 28th. In the mean time please take a moment to check it out now and bookmark it for Halloween.
While you’re on our website please feel free to click around, check it out and share it with your friends and social media followers. We made the website live just hours ago and we’re excited to share it with the community. (Trust us, you’re going to be seeing a lot more posts from us showing off the features of our fancy new website… we’re pretty proud of it)
Thank you to everybody in the community for everything you’ve been doing to keep Ashe County safe. We are a strong and resilient community and just as we’ve found a way to make everything else work during this COVID-19 pandemic, we will make Halloween work too. The children of Ashe County will Trick-or-Treat this year… there will be candy!!
