Since its incorporation by the North Carolina General Assembly in 1799, Ashe County has represented the best of what North Carolina has to offer. Often referred to as the “Coolest Corner of North Carolina”, Ashe County is known for its comfortable mountain climate, recreational activities, friendly people and quaint towns.
About the Ashe County Sheriff's Office
The Ashe County Sheriff’s Office is a multi-faceted law enforcement agency served by a dedicated and professional team of Deputies, Detention Officers, Telecommunicators, Administrative staff and volunteers. Our agency serves and protects our county’s 27,000 year-round residents as well as the countless seasonal residents and tourists who routinely visit Ashe County.
The Sheriff’s Office is the main law enforcement agency in Ashe County. We provide general law enforcement, detention, communications, civil process and court services for the citizens of Ashe County. In 2019, our 37 sworn deputies responded to 14,384 calls for service; and our agency is committed to continuing our rich history of being a valuable resource and servant to our growing community.
