B. Phil Howell, Sheriff
Role and Responsibilities:
With 16 years of law enforcement service, Sheriff B. Phil Howell was elected in 2018 as Sheriff of Ashe County. As an elected official, Sheriff Howell serves as the Chief Law Enforcement Officer for the county and is ultimately responsible for every facet of our operations at the Ashe County Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office is active in all three branches of the criminal justice system: law enforcement, the courts, and corrections.
